The used truck market has experienced a different economic scenario during 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic year. The prices of used heavy duty trucks started to drop in 2019 but after the pandemic the prices were even more affected. The depreciation during the first months of 2020 was around 8.5%.
The company Daimler Trucks stated that they were prepared for the challenging year and, finally, the fourth quarter of 2020 was promising with a rising level of new trucks sales. On the other hand, used trucks are in a good place since there are good vehicle offerings in the market, such as the Freightliner Cascadia from Daimler Trucks.
There is a great demand of safety systems and automated transmissions on the market for used trucks and the Freightliner Cascadia is a very good option for a high-tech truck. According to Daimler Trucks` predictions regarding used trucks, during 2021 the prices of these vehicles will stabilize and since many fleets work with cycles of between three and five years, the model of Cascadia from the year 2018 will be on the market of sales in 2021, although buyers need move quickly to catch one of these big opportunity trucks before they are sold out.
