The U.S. Department of Transportation, through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), has announced the allocation of nearly $3.5 million in grants to fund new truck driver training programs.
This substantial funding will benefit 27 colleges and other commercial driver´s license (CDL) training programs, significantly improving road safety and creating numerous new career opportunities in the commercial vehicle industry.
The initiative is part of the Biden-Harris administration´s Transportation Action Plan and has three key objectives:
FMCSA Deputy Administrator Vinn White emphasized that safety is a priority for both the nation´s highways and commercial drivers. He expressed a strong commitment to working closely with the grant recipients to ensure the funds are used effectively and responsibly. In addition to this program, FMCSA allocates more than half of its annual budget to commercial vehicle safety, supporting the department’s National Roadway Safety Strategy.
